How to draw cartoons.

I’m trying something new with my How 2 Draw site. I’ve selected 3 of my free how to draw lesson plans and have given them a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License. That basically means they can be shared, distributed, copied and used however folks like as long as they don’t try to sell them, alter the content or claim the work as their own.

If you’re not familiar with H2D it’s a little site I’ve set up to teach cartooning.  Originally I set it up to give my students and the kids I talk to at local schools and library’s a place to visit after I’ve gone. They can go there and  grab more cartooning lessons, watch a how to draw video or download a few free coloring pages.

I’ve been posting my latest step by step lessons plans in an easy to follow slide show presentation I built using Google Docs. One thing I’ve learned from my many years of teaching is that kids work at different speeds.  Some of my students want to zip through the lesson as fast as they can and others are more intent on studying each line and crafting their art ever so carefully. Obviously there is no wrong approach. Google Presentation allows them to go through at their own pace one slide at a time, back up or enlarge to full screen.

Anyhow I got to thinking maybe there’s a way I can share these with more then just my students.  I looked around a little bit and found the creative commons license. It was just what I was looking for. As luck would have it Google Docs are super easy to share as well. So putting the two together, anyone who wants, can now show these little how to draw lesson plans on their very own website. It’s as simple as cut and paste.

Here’s how it Works:
At the very end of each presentation is a little box of code (it’s right near a red circle and a title that says embed). Just grab the code in the box, copy and paste it into your site and you’re good to go. If this sounds like something that might interest you drop me a line or send me a link to your site, I’d love to hear how they worked out. Happy drawing.

These are awesome slides not only for kids, but for aspiring cartoonists as well. It’s great that they can actually be shared and distributed. :)

Hello, Bob Ostrom. My name is Adam and I absolutely admire your work. I’m looking forward to being a cartoonist. I honestly don’t have much of a talent at drawing so I was wondering if you’d have any intrest in giving a video to help me get better.I can’t even come close to drawing what you’ve drawn even if i tried.

    Thank you,
    Adam A
